The Greater Chicago Chapter and Midwest Heart are doing wonderful things to help raise awareness about sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). Among the community and education programming that they coordinate are: conducting heart screenings of student athletes at Chicago-area high schools (the Young Hearts for Life program), sponsoring Heart for Life walks and runs, and offering medical professionals the opportunity to participate in the Heart Smart for Women program, designed to educate participants on the risks of cardiovascular disease, among other topics. Chapter leader Chris Rambke works with electrophysiologist Dr. Cash Casey and other physicians to provide patients access to progressive treatments and prevention strategies in cardiology.
